Scientists at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in the United States have invented a pioneering device called "catalytic condenser", which can electrically make one metal behave like another metal and be used as a catalyst to accelerate chemical reactions, making chemical reactions faster and more efficient. The study, published on the website of JACS Au, a sister Journal of the American Chemical Society, opens the door to new catalytic technologies using non noble metal catalysts, which can improve the efficiency of storing renewable energy, manufacturing carbon free fuels and sustainable materials.
