Established by Zhang Xinghai, the company was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange on June 15, 2016. The firm’s major shareholders are Dongfeng Motor Corporation and others. Rivals that have direct and indirect competition with Sokon Group include AVIC Shenyang Aircraft Co., Ltd., Changchun FAWAY Automobile Components Co., Ltd., Xiamen King Long Motor Group Co., Ltd..
