Huawei sets an ambitious target of reaching hundreds of millions of HarmonyOS Users

On March 12, Yu Chengdong, Executive Director of Huawei which is a Chinese ICT infrastructure and smart terminal provider, released a video to announce the official version of HarmonyOS for mobile phones. He said that the "unexpected product" equipped with the official version of HarmonyOS will be unveiled next week.

On October 22, 2024, Huawei launched the public beta test of HarmonyOS NEXT (the official version of HarmonyOS) on models such as the Pura70 series. Some Huawei mobile phone users reported that after upgrading their systems to HarmonyOS NEXT, apps such as WeChat, Weibo, QQ, and Quark could not be used, showing "Applications not yet HarmonyOS-optimized".

Currently, Huawei's existing devices are also being gradually upgraded to the official version of HarmonyOS.

Yu Chengdong said that Huawei has received 4 million optimization suggestions so far. The system has gone through more than 30 iterations, with over 150 new features added. There are already 20,000 HarmonyOS-native apps and meta-services listed on the platform. Meanwhile, the download volumes of apps such as WeChat, TikTok, and Amap have exceeded 2 million.
