According to reports, a federal court in Texas ruled that Intel needs to pay US $2.175 billion for infringing others' semiconductor manufacturing patents. This is one of the largest patent infringement cases in the history of the United States. Intel said it would appeal. On the same day, a federal district court in Waco, Texas, ruled that Intel infringed two patents held by "VLSI technology company". The court awarded Intel $1.5 billion for one patent and $675 million for the other.
