According to reports, Facebook and Google are planning to lay two submarine optical cables to connect the west coast of the United States with Singapore and Indonesia. Facebook said the two cables, called "echo" and "Bifrost", will increase the data capacity of the above areas by 70%, and will also improve the reliability of the Internet. Facebook will invest in both cables, while Google will invest only in echo. The project is still subject to regulatory approval, so the cost of the project has not been disclosed.
