AP, Oct. 8, noble group said that jamalco, a Jamaican alumina refinery controlled by the group, was damaged by fire and closed in August. It is expected that production will not be fully resumed until the end of September 2022. The price of alumina has risen to more than US $380 per ton, the highest level since April 2019. Jamalco has an annual capacity of 1.4 million tons of alumina. Noble said that jamalco "has issued a notice of force majeure to its suppliers and customers".
