Air Products took part in the China International Import Expo 2020 (CIIE 2020) as an exhibitor for the first time on November 7, 2020. During the event, Air Products announced plans to build a hydrogen power R&D center in China and deepen its collaboration with China in hydrogen energy development.

According to the world-leading industrial gases company, it has signed a cooperation memorandum with the Jiaxing Baysalt Economic Development Zone (Chinese: 嘉兴海盐经济开发区) to develop key hydrogen energy technologies from hydrogen production to terminal applications. The technologies mainly include the development of high-efficient hydrogen storage materials, hydrogen transport materials, and fuel cell materials, as well as the development and industrialization of hydrogen fuel battery testing equipment. The president of Air Products China, Su Junxiong, said during the forum that the new hydrogen power R&D center – and its subsidiary factory, when completed – can provide hydrogen fuel filling services for logistics vehicles in the Yangtze River Delta area.

As a precursory cross-board industrial gas company entering the Chinese mainland in 1987, Air Products has been helping China's social and economic development for over 30 years. The company has taken part in many large events in China, including the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the 2010 Asian Games, and the 2011 Universiade, and impressively promotes hydrogen energy development in China.
