October 14 — Rio de Janeiro. 99Food, the food delivery arm of DiDi (滴滴), has begun trial operations in Rio de Janeiro, marking its third launch in Brazil after Goiânia and São Paulo within just four months. The expansion gives 99Food a presence across Brazil’s two largest metropolitan regions. On launch day, more than 17,000 restaurants joined the platform — including Burger King, McDonald’s, KFC, Outback, Abbraccio, and Bacio di Latte — with over 50,000 registered couriers. Simong Wang (王思蒙), head of 99 in Brazil, said Rio is the company’s largest two-wheeler market, adding that the expansion will use innovative delivery models to create greater value for restaurants, riders, and consumers.
